After hearing about this place for so long, my friend and I decided to finally check it out since it was literally across the street from her hotel. The place looks nice as you walk through the doorway, but slowly you start to descend into a very weird set-up which we really weren't feeling. DJ was terrible and the crowd felt a bit weird. We left after only twenty minutes. Only good thing was that the bartender actually made our drinks pretty stiff.

I came to Iguana for a birthday celebration. It being my first time there and having heard good things about this place, I was excited. If you take away only one thing from this review, remember this: horrible service. Slow and forgetful waiters drag out your dinner to 2 hours, easy. The food tastes pretty good and is served in good portions but is overpriced for its quality. 3 of us ordered from their prix fixe menu and none of us were given our included desserts. Only after hassling the ONE random waiter we could get service from did we get our desserts. The upstairs 'dance' floor has a cover unless you have just eaten in the restaurant, then you are free to use your receipt for entry. Expect dirty looks from the bouncers and mostly spanish music up there. The floor was too packed for anyone to actually dance. Don't show up on a Salsa night unless you are professionally trained to dance, unless of course you just like to watch... you perv. The downstairs/basement dance floor is nothing to write home about either. They play mostly old hip hop and it has a more strict dress code than the upstairs, strangely. Also, make sure not to wear similar clothes to the guy that gets in right before you because you will JUST then be in violation of their dress code. Seriously, my cousin and I had on similar outfits. He got in. I didnt. This arbitrary dress code of the moment was, of course, enforced by your typical asshole bouncer. This place has potential but mucks it up in too many ways. Pass on it if given a choice.

Bob Bar is excellent and I would recommend it 100%! When I first visited Bob's, I knew this was the place to throw my birthday party. Last night, my friend and I did exactly this -- we threw a joint bday here. The fantastic dancable music (mix of top 20 and slightly older songs), friendly bouncers (totally down to earth), easy to reach bartenders (no horrible drink lines) and accessible bar owner Stan made hosting the bday party stress free. All the guests had a blast. The place is quite small and we were very concerned when our guest list topped 150+. However, Stan was very accommodating and helped us work though potential issues and plan the night. Fantastic place that was packed all night long!
