by Thalia Sutler on If you are looking for a bar AND a dance floor...this may very well be your spot. It might not be your spot if you mind that guy dancing in the corner though! He was Vertigo's go-go dancer and he was going all out...non stop. His lover must be satisfied! We got here around 11pm on a Friday night and there was no line. It got a lot busier around midnight. The bouncers are friendly as well. The crowd was predominantly white and looked to be 25+. The drinks were on the pricey side and they were not that strong. Had a 3 wisemen and an LC...went down too easy considering what's in those drinks. They have jello shots for $3 each or $12 for four. They also have blended margarita's for $5 and shot specials depending on the night. **CASH ONLY** The music was okay when we first got there...but then it got a lot better as the night went on. They played dance and hip hop. I would have preferred if the songs were shorter...kinda dragged on a little too long. But when I got bored, I just looked at the go-go man for inspiration.
by Ian C. on I came here for dinner not too long ago with a few junior high school friends. The drinks were pretty cheap, even after happy hour had ended. But the food was nothing to write home about. I got the fish and chips and it was ok, but i've had better. I only got two pieces of fish, while other places, i've gone to have given me three huge pieces for the same amount of money. And the place is trying to stick with it's roots and traditional home-cooking,, but how do you not have the malt vinegar with the fish and chips? OK, granted I didn't think about it until after I had left, but didn't even offer to give me the malt vinegar. The dessert was good-- i liked the creme brulee a lot.
by Arlette Grisby on This bar is awesome. Visited El Rio last weekend w/ a few friends. We originally went because we were going to watch the Red Hots Burlesque show (which was also awesome) Bar has Shuffleboard and a pool table, and a huge back patio area w/ good music. I think we got to El Rio around 730 and it was still happy hour which meant super cheap drinks. I would def come to this bar again :)
