Ooo boyyy. I don't know what to say. Wait yes I do. I really want to say sometimes everyone has a bad experience or something or another but this was like deja vous when it comes to how I feel about another Atlanta club. (you can wander through my 4 and 5 star reviews and you'll see which club i'm talking about) I would love to give this place another try and maybe that'll happen if the opportunity presents itself, but I wouldn't suggest this when my friends and I are going out. I want to say although i'm at a point where i'm kinda over the clubs, or I should say the people that frequent them, I do like dance clubs, bars, restaurants, whatever, etc etc, but I just wasn't feeling this place at all. The drinks are a bit pricey but I wasn't expecting them not to be. If you've seen Gold Room advertisements then you should know the place isn't going to have a dollar draft night or inexpensive well drinks. The interior of the club is nice as well, the staff is friendly (bouncers, bar staff, etc.) but the place does get pretty packed to the point where you're not quite sure where the bathroom is or if thats the front entrance/ exit and the place is not too big. Nothing bad happened here but it's just not my scene. If you're into Jersey Shore, wannabes, or people who shouldn't but think theyre prettier than they really are then you'll like this place. My 2 stars is just based on the vibe and the people I watched there. Good people watching. lol Ooo one complaint though but it's another thing you wouldn't not expect. I have been to some loud clubs, and yes I know clubs are loud, but I seriously couldn't hear myself think here nor could the bartender hear me when I was trying to order a drink. A bit annoying but thats to be expected. Gold Room, you're pretty and flashy, you're staff is quite nice, your drinks are typical over priced club drinks but i'm just not feelin' ya. And guys please ween yourselves off of the Affliction, Ed Hardy, or anything else that looks as though it may fit a small child or has any type of cheesy embroidered design on it that for some reason you felt was worth paying $100 for and looks good. ;o) Just sayin.

I came here Friday night with one of my friends. We had fun, but it's really better if you go in a group. We got regular bar drinks (none of the specials) and the bartender made them very strong. So strong that I had to go back and ask her to put more margarita mix in my margarita because I couldn't drink it! There were dancers who were awesome, and a fashion show the night we went, which was very cool, too. The dance part, through the "Funhouse" was anything but dancing, though. It was a bunch of people, on a dance floor, completely still. Kinda lame. The games were fun. When we paid to get in, we each got 5 tickets. I played a game and won a little stuffed dolphin, whom I affectionately named Drunkie (because he looks f-ed up...aka sewn incorrectly). My friend played the same game first, and did not win. I guess he didn't like that I won and he didn't, because he bought more tickets so he could play again. For the record, he didn't win, and I heart Drunkie the Dolphin.

I've been here a couple times, the most recently being this past Friday for a friend's going-away party. She got bottle service + we were on the guestlist so that alone is a good enough reason to come besides the opportunity to see friends I haven't seen in a while + my general positive opinion about this venue. I haven't had any bad experiences of note, but I haven't had any amazing experiences either. Opera looks nice + I like the design layout of the place, but it's not that big + is kind of on the darker side which makes you wonder how nice it really looks. Location - On Schrader Blvd, right off of Hollywood. Its front door is literally just a stone's throw away + the long line can probably reach around the corner of the strip on busy nights. Parking - There's $20 lots right across the street or within close walking distance, but if you get lucky the parking meters are $2 / hour until midnight when it's free! Also try the Hollywood + Highlands lot since I've heard it's cheaper + the walk isn't thaat far. Venue - Single level, 3 bars, 2 small dance floors that are a few steps lowered from the lounge-level, 1 bathroom, plenty of comfy seating for bottle service that opens up to everyone later in the night, open smoking patio at the entryway + nice plush decor. Overall, it's more like a lounge than a club. By plush decor, I literally mean that a lot of the walls, pillows + seating were furry. I liked the spacing of the multiple bars, walkways + the tables. Sure it got crowded, but the set up of the place was designed well enough that there's ways to get around the throngs of people without having to traverse a dance floor. I really am not so cool w/ the smoking patio being right at the entrance, though, b/c that's the only place to get air... thus we are all doomed to either overheat of die of secondhand smoke. Cleanliness - The staff was actually pretty good at cleaning up empty glasses + mopping up wet spots on the floor. At my friend's table this past weekend, we had a lot of people in our group sharing the bottles yet the table never got cluttered with drinks nor did we ever run out of fresh glasses. I do question how clean the furry walls + couches are, though, since that material can't be all that easy to clean... Crowd - Always arrive around 10pm to get in before 10:30 for guestlist + we got in w/ no problem. Of course it was empty inside at that time, but the place filled up in no time. House of GLAM + Party til AM are currently promoting on Fridays + they're are predominantly Asian groups so you get the gist that the crowd is mostly young + Asian on Fridays. Music - Nothing new to say here. The mixes were good but not particularly innovative enough to be memorable. One of the DJ's was from Power 106 so it was your typical hip-hop variety. And by DJ, I mean guys on their laptops zoning out... long gone are the turntables + emcees who actually try to excite the crowd. I spent some time doing my thing on the dance floor but wasn't feeling it enough to really break a sweat. Bar - There's 1 on the left, 1 on the right + 1 kinda in the middle. They were crowded all night, of course, but the wait wasn't too bad considering the number of bartenders for all 3 bars. And yes, the ones that I saw were all male. Drinks - $20 for a jack + coke + a kamikaze isn't too bad. Our drinks could've been stronger or filled all the way to the rim, but I guess we got what we paid for. As mentioned, our friend had bottle service so we only needed to visit the bar once. Note about the bottle service though is that cranberry juice + orange juice seem to be the only mixers... + they were room-temperature since they'd been on the table since before we arrived. Neh. Bathroom - 1 bathroom w/ 3-4 stalls. I'm kinda weirded out that there's a mirror right across from the open girls bathroom doorway so anyone walking past can see into the bathroom, but whatever. At least we have stalls. As with most clubs, there's a attendant to keep things clean + a bunch of candy / girlie goodies in bins around the sinks for tips. Price - $20 at the door. Or if you're on guestlist + get in before 10:30 then it's free for girls + $15 for guys. Not worth coming for $20... but being on guestlist makes it worth the experience.
