we were on the guest list so we didn't wait long to get in. Plus, the bouncers were extra nice to us( more girls than guys i guess). i saw one of the guy tried to bribe the bouncer in order to get in fast ( that guy was probably half wasted already). the bouncer was initially saying no to him nicely but after so many attempts, the bouncer finally got inpatient and yelled at him " get the f&^& out of my face". Ha that half wasted guy totally deserved it! drinks were fine. music on the other hand....could have been better i guess. bouncers were very "firm" with the rules here. if you get drunk and try to get into other people's business. you will be thrown out and the bouncers would make sure to embarrass you but i guess if you are drunk....who cares? haha Oh! and they have coat service with minimal of 2 $ per coat.

I'd call Pure a "must to avoid," especially considering the assortment of good taco joints in Atlanta these days (TDS, Tin Lizzy's, Holy Taco, even Raging Burrito). The food at Pure is absolutely not worth the ordeal of eating there. The place looks like an upscale school cafeteria, including tiny tables packed close together and little plastic chairs. Actually, it looks a lot like the cafeteria at the Aquarium, glass tile and little kids and all. There isn't a soft surface to be found, except for the Pure T-shirts on display, so it's LOUD in there. Especially when they crank up the disco music. My boyfriend and I pretty much had to make a deliberate choice to not even attempt a conversation. It got even worse when about half a dozen staffers came out in Lucha masks banging on pans to sing "Happy Birthday" to someone (all I could think was... you decided to come HERE for your b9rthday dinner?!). The food is unimpressive. I agree with what folks are saying about the chips and salsa... the chips taste stale or like they came out of a bag (or both), and the salsa is too spicy and watery. I had a prickly pear margarita that tasted good, but didn't have that viscous prickly pear consistency. What really bothered me was their taco menu. Why would every taco plate they offer be three of a kind? Three fish tacos or three pork tacos... how boring would that be (even if they were good)? The only way to mix and match is to order a la carte, which I'm not sure is an option on the menu. The fish taco was... fishy-tasting and hard to eat, with multiple little strips of fried fish and a pile of cabbage on top. Really, folks, go up the road to Holy Taco for a pleasant atmosphere and infinitely better food!

Fantastic music and cheap drinks always make for a fun night. This was my second time at MJQ and it didn't disappoint. I'm actually trying to figure out who the DJ was last night, if anyone else was there and can help me out, that would rock. He was mixing rap and classical music and it worked really well. Anyway, the place is a dive bar, and if law school students like me know about it, then it's no longer "underground" or "cool", but I still had a blast.
